Our First Stout

We stocked up on beer supplies last week on a trip into Boston. Got enough ingredients to fill 3 kegs, and we got started working on our first batch tonight. At the moment, Andrew's brewing up a batch of stout we we modified from Papazian's "Barrel of Monkeys Wheat-Nut Oatmeal Stout" (from volume 2). We converted his all-grain recipe to malt extract recipe and we're going to call it "Zombies Chasing a Barrel of Monkeys":

For 6gal:

Steeped at 157F for 60min:
1lb Crystal 40
8oz roasted barley
8oz black patent
10oz Rolled Oats

Boil for 60min:
6lb Munton's Light DME
2lb Munton's Wheat DME
2.5oz English Fuggles

Flavor (@60min) and Aroma Hops (@75min):
0.5oz English Fuggles
0.5oz Kent Goldings

1/4tsp irish moss added at the end of the boil

Yeast: Fermentis Safale S-04 English Whitbread Dry Ale Yeast - Fermenting in the kegerator at 64F

OG: 1.072
FG:

Going back to our roots, we managed to let the wort boil over while trying to multitask, or monkeytask as I'm now going to call it..... STICKY STOVE!!!
